Music visualization for Daveform Quintet’s single, Revolution

The main subject of the video is the topographic cover of Arrival, the latest album by Daveform Quintet, designed by graphic artist Petra File. I had the opportunity to bring this cover image to life. It was a challenging project, as the video spans 12 minutes —four times the usual length of a music video— and I had only around a week to create it. The concept also presented creative constraints, as I could use only the album cover graphic as a visual foundation. This project results in an unusual convergence of digital imagery and analog sound. While the music is entirely acoustic, the visuals are 100% digital, generated through algorithmic solutions mainly with the help of Blender.

About the process: The cover reminded me of a topographic map. Following that analogy, the line drawing becomes a three-dimensional form, reminiscent of an asteroid or minor planet. Throughout the video, we navigate this structure, observing the terrain as it continuously transforms across different stages (stages of a revolution?), responding to musical phrases and the instruments’ dynamics. The spatial shifts, monochrome surfaces, and geometric composition all align with my recent visual explorations, focusing on form transformation and the reinterpretation of space.
