Monastery virtual tour, 2013

Augmented reality installation of a monastery found near Kecskemét, Hungary.

we were commissioned to virtually reconstruct a Romanesque abbey found near Bugac, Hungary. In the simulation one can choose from 3 different views by selecting one of the physical cubes.

Based on so little data from the excavation a handful of other 12th century monasteries from the region was used as reference for the interior and the cloister - the main model of the bounding walls was given. ### The cloister
The inner space was surrounded by round arched arcades and the living-quarters. A small carved drinking-well also beautifies the center. ### The nave of the church The church was presumably a simple one with three bays built from white limestone with all of the general characteristics of the churches of the era: massive quality, thick walls, small openings, round arches, sturdy piers, groin vaults, large towers and decorative arcading. Typical romanesque groin vaults, basilical lighting and a high apse with a fresco are all features of the interior. ## Credits - Creative Technology - Gáspár Hajdu - Gábor Papp - Client - Commissioned by E8 Lab - Thanks to - Zoltán Csík-Kovács, Annamária Csirmaz, Rita Csirmaz, Melinda Sipos
